District 3870 successfully conducted the Rotary Leadership Institute Learning Seminar on February 21 to 22, 2026 at the Pearlmont Hotel, hosted by the Rotary Club of CDO East Urban.
We acknowledge DGE Maureen G. Cacabelos for the opportunity to serve the district through this important initiative. Her leadership continues to prioritize leadership formation across our clubs.
We also recognize Incoming District Learning Facilitator PAG Ma. Concepcion B. Lagonera for overseeing the seminar and guiding its direction as part of the district’s overall learning strategy.
Congratulations to President Stephanie P. Caragos and the Rotary Club of CDO East Urban for hosting this district event, and to the organizing committee headed by President Elect Karina May G. Olavides.
The two day program followed the RLI structure, allowed time for discussion and practice sessions, and ensured that every participant had the opportunity to facilitate and receive feedback.
The Rotary Leadership Institute exists to strengthen clubs through quality leadership education. It recognizes that effective Rotary leadership requires more than professional skill. It requires Rotary knowledge, understanding of our structure, appreciation of our history, and alignment with our vision and strategic priorities.
PDG Ernesto “Ernie” Y. Choa, Rotary Leadership Institute Philippines Chair, delivered RLI History and Background. He emphasized how RLI developed as a structured leadership program and why leadership formation must be intentional if clubs are to remain strong.
ARPIC PP Majella T. Villaroman, RLI Communications Officer of RLI Philippines, presented RLI, My Leadership in Rotary. She reminded participants that stepping into leadership roles can feel overwhelming, especially for those early in their Rotary journey. Education builds confidence, perspective, and readiness to serve.
PDG Rolando “Oyan” Villanueva shared My Rotary World, guiding participants to revisit the purpose of Rotary, understand how Rotary is structured from club to international level, and reflect on our core values of fellowship, integrity, diversity, service, and leadership. His session reinforced that every Rotarian is part of a global network and that understanding our place in that structure strengthens our commitment.
A total of 37 attendees from all over the district received their certificates of completion and RLI pins. Their participation reflects a strong commitment to continuous learning and leadership growth.
We thank all those who registered and invested their time in this seminar. Your willingness to learn ensures that our clubs will be guided by prepared and capable leaders. We also extend our sincere appreciation to all who presented and facilitated sessions. Your expertise, preparation, and dedication made this learning experience meaningful and impactful.
District 3870 continues to invest in leadership that will strengthen our clubs and sustain Rotary’s work in our communities for years to come.
